Hypnosis

The term "hypnosis" comes from the Greek word hypnos, which means "sleep". However, being in hypnosis is not sleeping, it's something else. Everybody heard about hypnosis, we all now something like this exist. But in fact, we don't know exactly what is it.

The problem of hypnosis is not clear for the science and is a kind of mystery. There are some theories about hypnosis, about which you can read in the theories section. By definition, hypnosis is usually described as a trance-like state that is induced by a person whose suggestions are readily accepted by the subject. It means that you feel like you were sleeping, but in fact your behavior is dependent on the orders of the person who made you come into the hypnotic state.

Hypnosis techniques are sometimes used in medicine (for example in order to relief pain or anxiety), it is also used in popular stage acts, where subjects are made to perform strange actions and behave in a bizzare way. There are also techniques of "mass-hypnosis" - which means influencing crowds to do what we expect from them.
